Cheaper Produce = Slimmer Americans?

A group of scientists at the University of Illinois conducted a study on how food prices affect the body weight of Americans. They found that raising the prices of unhealthy foods and lowering the prices of healthy foods is associated with lower body weight and a reduced risk of obesity. (ScienceDaily)

Mushrooms and Weight Loss

A preliminary study found that eating large quantities of mushrooms may help prevent and treat obesity. The Dr. Cheskin-led study found that people can increase their intake of low-energy density (low calorie) foods, especially mushrooms, and decrease their intake of high-energy density foods, such as lean ground beef, to help avoid obesity and weight gain.

LSU Study Promotes Eggs for Weight Loss

CLA Fights Obesity and Diabetes

EatingFabulous.com reports that a compound in milk called conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) may fight obesity. In a study from the British Journal of Nutrition, overweight or obese people who took CLA supplements had significantly less body fat mass. They also increased their lean body mass measurements.
