Study on Vitamin K for Diabetes

NPIcenter.com reports that a study published in the journal Cells found that the vitamin K-dependant protein osteocalcin may help regulate insulin activity and reduce diabetes and obesity. According to the article, our bones actually help to regulate our blood sugar levels by producing osteocalcin. The protein secretes a hormone that enhances insulin activity.

CLA Fights Obesity and Diabetes

EatingFabulous.com reports that a compound in milk called conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) may fight obesity. In a study from the British Journal of Nutrition, overweight or obese people who took CLA supplements had significantly less body fat mass. They also increased their lean body mass measurements.

Fish Oil Supplements Benefit Those With Type 2 Diabetes

HealthCastle.com reports that a study from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology found that people with type 2 diabetes who consumed high doses of fish oil over nine weeks lowered the size and concentration of several lipoprotein subclasses (cholesterol) in their bodies. The subjects taking the fish oil also lowered their insulin sensitivity.
