LSU Study Promotes Eggs for Weight Loss

Daily Whole Grains

Cooking Light Magazine reported on recent findings from the Physicians’ Health Study of 21,400 male doctors over 18 years.  The findings showed that eating seven servings of whole-grain or bran breakfast cereal a week may reduce the risk of heart failure in men by 21%.

Cancer-Fighting Fiber

Cooking Light Magazine reports that researchers from the University of Leeds in England found that premenopausal women who eat 25-30 grams of fiber a day are 50% less likely to develop breast cancer than those who eat less fiber. Kellogg Making Cereals More Nutritious

MSNBC reports that Kellogg Co. announced they would boost the nutritional value of cereals marketed to children or stop marketing them as a whole.  Check out the new requirements for a single serving of Kellogg’s cereals:

200 calories or less
No trans fat
2 g saturated fat or less
230 mg sodium or less
12 g sugar or less
