For Mother’s Day weekend, I took my Mom out for brunch to V-Note, a new vegan bistro and organic wine bar on the Upper East Side, NYC. It was a beautiful sunny day with a high of 70 and we showed up right as the bistro was opening, snagging a perfect spot at a corner booth.
Mom and I each ordered cappuccinos and water for drinks. My boyfriend and I both ordered the breakfast combo that came with tofu scramble, french toast, and soy sausage. Mom ordered the tofu scramble with a side of fresh greens and soy sausage. Her favorite was the scramble which was made of crumbled tofu, onions, mushrooms, spinach, and tomatoes. I’m pretty sure there was fresh basil and nutritional yeast in there too. My favorite was the vegan french toast on my plate. It was crispy on the outside, soft and sweet in the middle, and served with pure maple syrup. So good! I’m not sure what they did to make the toast so sweet and pillowy, but I would guess that maybe a little mashed banana was in there instead of eggs? Just a guess.
The three of us really enjoyed our brunch and loved the clean, relaxed, and modern atmosphere at V-Note. The staff was also incredibly friendly and attentive. But what’s most important to me…Mom was happy and full. The portions were big (always a plus for a vegetarian or vegan spot).
I’ll definitely be back to V-Note whenever I make the trip to the Upper East Side. Next time I’d like to try the dinner menu and a glass or two of organic wine.
Hoping everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend! Lots of love from NYC.
