Healthy Breakfast – Strawberry Banana Smoothie

by laurel on May 1, 2010

In celebration of the Magic Bullet giveaway contest I held this past week (winners coming soon), I wanted to share with you a smoothie recipe of my own. This morning I made a quick and easy breakfast smoothie that was creamy and filling. I served it in a small glass along with some scrambled eggs and a slice of fresh baked bread from Whole Foods called “Seeduction” (it has tons of yummy seeds baked into the bread). I think I’ll add goji berries to my smoothie next time for a major nutrition boost!

Strawberry Banana Breakfast Smoothie
(Serves 2)

7-8 strawberries
1/2 apple, cut into pieces
1 banana
1 cup almond milk
Splash of concord grape juice

Add all the ingredients to a blender, and mix well. Pour into two small glasses, and serve on ice if you like it cold.

Tip 1: The grape juice is use is from R.W. Knudsen and it’s called “Just Concord.” You can find this brand at most health food stores. It’s delicious and full of the antioxidant resveratrol. Tip 2: I make my own almond milk. I included the simple recipe here.

Update: This blog was featured on the Sexy Organic Blog Carnival 9 and the Baby Boomers Blog Carnival 39.

Nice recipe, i like the almond milk, adds a bit of a difference to the smoothie, an excellent start to the day, thanks.

Wow, can’t wait to try this. I add wheat germ or linseed, with raspberries to yogurt for a healthy after-dinner snack.
