Get the Most Out of Green Tea

by laurel on February 27, 2008

Self Magazine wrote a great tip for how to get the best benefit from drinking green tea. A study from Purdue University in Indiana found that lemon juice can protect the cancer-fighting antioxidants in green tea (catechins). Lemon protects the chemicals so there are more of them for your body to absorb. Next time you make a fresh cup of tea, squeeze a little lemon in there to reap the anticancer benefits. The fact that two things that complement each other like tea and lemon are also better for you when put together is so interesting. Reminds me of your entry on another tea accompanimnet, honey.

Good information. Also, it is best not to add anything to your green tea (like sugar or milk) because it reduces the effectivenss of the antioxidants.

Thanks for the post about the benefits of green tea. I drink green tea all the time and I also take a vitamin and mineral liquid supplement that has it in it too.

If you like green tea you should try this stuff from south america called Yerba Mate. There is a fresh variety that tastes very much like green tea but it has 5 times the antioxidants and smoother energy. The company is called the Mate Factor. Check it out.
