EatingFabulous.com writes that avocados may reduce your risk of oral cancer. A study from Ohio State’s College of Pharmacy found that “phytochemicals extracted from avocados target multiple signaling pathways and increase the amount of reactive oxygen within the cells, leading to cell death in pre-cancerous cell lines.” The phytochemicals did not harm any healthy or normal cells.
Avocados are also high in folic acid, and a lack of this nutrient has been linked to cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer’s.

You may have heard that avocados are not good for you because they are high in fat. Fortunately, that is NOT true because avocados are packed with healthy monounsaturated fats that may help lower your cholesterol. Check out this WebMD article about the avocado advantage.
