by laurel on July 21, 2007

FoodConsumer.org reports that a study from David Geffen School of Medicine in Los Angeles and the Human BioMolecular Research Institute in San Diego found that a chemical in curry may help your immune system ged rid of brain plagues that cause Alzheimer’s disease. The chemical, Bisdemethoxycurcumin, is found in curry which is made from Turmeric root.

Early observational studies show that people who consume curry often, such as Indians, have a lower risk of developing the disease. The U.S. has 4.5 million people with Alzheimer’s while only 1% of elderly people in India have the disease.
