Small Amounts of Trans Fats Increase Heart Disease Risk
Self Magazine reports that eating even a small amount of trans fats every day significantly increases your risk of heart disease. Researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health found that people who eat 4 grams of trans fat a day are 3x more likely to get heart disease than those who eat 2.5 grams a day. Always check your food labels and avoid foods that contain partially hydrogenated oils or shortening. BanTransFats.com is a site with some good information about avoiding trans fats, protecting yourself from heart disease, and restaurants/eateries who are switching to healthier oils.
