Nuts Help Avoid Weight Gain

The journal Obesity says that regularly eating nuts can help reduce your risk of weight gain by 30% over two years. Dr. Michael Roizin, co-author of You on a Diet: The Owner’s Manual for Waist Management, recommends eating a small amount of healthy fat ten minutes prior to your meal (suggestions: a handful of nuts, a few slices of avocado, or a spoonful of peanut butter). The healthy fat “helps activate ghrelin, a hormone that lets you know you’re full.”
