How You Can Avoid Produce Pesticides

FoodNews.org writes that small amounts of pesticides in produce are believed to have toxic effects, especially during fetal development and childhood.  While washing and peeling the skins off produce can decrease the levels of pesticides, it does not get rid of them completely.  FoodNews.org says that your best bet “is to eat a varied diet, wash all produce, and choose organic when possible to reduce exposure to potentially harmful chemicals.”

When you can’t go organic, take their shopper’s guide with you to help pick out produce with the least amount of pesticides.
