Sesame Oil Same as Sesame Seeds?

by laurel on March 18, 2007

WHFoods.org answers the question: is sesame oil nutritionally different from sesame seeds?

Any oil will have a completely different nutritional content than the food it was derived from.  Sesame oil and sesame seeds both have fatty acids, vitamin E, and phytosterols.  But, sesame oil lacks the copper, manganese, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, vitamin B1, fiber, and the amino acid tryptophan that are packed into sesame seeds.
