Hi Michelle,
I wrote this post back in 2007, so it's a bit out of date. These days I avoid dairy as well. Try cups of chamomile tea before bed and deep breathing exercises or meditation. In addition, there are some other healthy herb mixes available for sleep at the natural foods store.

Best of luck!

I found a wonderful way to make lasagna on the stove top in a pan. After eating I felt very tired and couldn't seem to move. I finally slept for about 3 hours. I stayed up for about 3 hours and then slept 10 1/2 hours. Did the cheese cause this kind of stopper? I'm not a big cheese eater, but the recipe had 1 cup ricotta cheese and 1 cup mozzarella cheese, I ate a large portion equaling about 1/4 c ricotta and 1/4 cup mozzarella.
