Orange Tomatoes May Be Healthier Than Red

MSNBC reports that Ohio State University scientists grew a variety of orange tomatoes that have a type of lycopene that is more readily used in our bodies than the type in red tomatoes. Their studies showed that the lycopene absorption from orange tomato sauce is 2.5 times higher than the absorption from red tomato sauce. While red tomatoes have more lycopene, orange tomatoes have the type of lycopene that the body is better able to absorb.
