Black Soybeans May Lower LDL, Prevent Weight Gain and Type 2 Diabetes
Yahoo! News reports that a study from the Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture shows that black soybeans may help prevent obesity, lower LDL cholesterol, and reduce the risk for type 2 diabetes. The study tested 32 rats for two weeks on a fatty diet supplemented with different levels of black soybeans. Compared to the control group, the rats who got 10% of their energy from black soy gained half as much weight, decreased their total blood cholesterol by 25%, and decreased their LDL cholesterol by 10%.
You can buy black soybeans at any health food store. You may be able to find them at your local grocery store in the health food or organic section.
