Cocoa May Improve Blood Flow to the Brain

CNN.com reports that researchers at the annual American Association of the Advancement of Science meeting said the antioxidant found in cocoa beans, flavanols, can improve blood flow to the brain. In a study at the University of Nottingham, young women were asked to perform complex tasks. The women who were also given drinks of cocoa with high flavanols had a significant increase in blood flow to the brain compared to the women who did not drink the cocoa.  Flavanols are also found in fruits, tea, and wine.
